Torfhildur og Rannveig eru að ganga framhjá búrinu og inn í eldhús er þær heyra báðar að kallað er til Torfhildar. Torfhildur telur röddina vera systur sinnar en Rannveig telur röddina vera móður Torfhildar. Búrið var hinsvegar mannlaust og enginn kannaðist við að hafa kallað á Torfhildi.
