Árið 1910 sáust för á Nauteyrarmelunum og stuttu seinna við báta í Hafnardal. Einnig sáust för á Hafnardalsánni og hafði dýrið farið þar niður í hverja vök og upp úr henni aftur. Það var greinilega kviðlágt. Þrír menn úr Hafnardal röktu förin norður undir sýslumerki. Förin voru teiknuð upp og héldu menn að þetta væru för eftir skjaldböku.
