I 1887 var det tovejr den 16. februar, og da slog en flok stære sig ned på vor mødding. Så blev det igjen stræng vinter, og de forsvandt. En 14 dage efter blev vor gamle stærkasse slået i stykker, og der lå to stære i, tilsyneladende dode. Tomrerne stod længe med dem i hånden, men med ét tog de flugten.
